RAI RESEARCH SEMINAR

SEMINAR SERIES AT THE ROYAL ANTHROPOLOGICAL INSTITUTE

Forensic Anthropology in the 21st Century

Dr Lucina Hackman, University of Dundee

Wednesday 18 March at 5.30 pm

This seminar will look at the development of the profession of forensic anthropology from its first use in a criminal case through to its utilisation in casework today.   Situated within increasingly rigorous criminal justice systems, forensic anthropology is a profession which has had to respond to the needs of end-users in order to continue to be relevant to the modern forensic marketplace.  This has involved open dialogue with the different strands of the justice systems as well as dealing with scientific and technological advances which have both challenged and facilitated the development of the discipline.

Dr Hackman is the Chair of the British Association for Forensic Anthropology and a Member of the RAI Committee for Forensic Anthropology which is the professional body overseeing the accreditation of forensic anthropologists in the UK: https://www.therai.org.uk/forensic-anthropology
