Marketing, Sales, and Communications Lead – RAI FILM Festival 2025

Lead the promotion of the RAI FILM Festival 2025 across multiple channels to raise the festival’s profile, engage target audiences, and drive ticket sales. You would work as part of a larger team organizing a documentary film festival that operates both online and in-person. 

About RAI FILM Festival

The RAI FILM Festival is an internationally renowned biennial event showcasing films and documentaries that focus on the world’s diverse cultures and communities. Organised by the Royal Anthropological Institute (RAI), the festival is dedicated to promoting cross-cultural understanding through the art of filmmaking. The 2025 edition has three distinct components: 

  • In person festival – 27-30 March 2025 at the Watershed Cinema and the Arnolfini Arts Centre and Gallery in Bristol, UK.  4 days of film screenings, gala events, workshops, and talks. 
  • Festival films online – April 2025 streaming over 80 films available 24/7 worldwide
  • Visual and Multimodal Anthropology Online Conference – 28 April to 3 May 2025. 

We aim for an exciting lineup of screenings, discussions, workshops, and events, making it a must-attend for filmmakers, anthropologists, and audiences interested in global cultural perspectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-channel marketing strategy to increase the visibility of the RAI FILM Festival 2025 and drive ticket sales.
  • Lead social media campaigns across platforms, engaging with target audiences, providing live updates during the festival, and fostering online buzz.
  • Design and execute email marketing campaigns targeting professional networks, film industry professionals, and niche groups, using analytics tools to inform future efforts.
  • Write and distribute press releases, newsletters, and promotional content to generate excitement and media attention for the festival.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (designer, volunteer coordinator) and external partners (sponsors, filmmakers, promotional partners) to ensure cohesive branding and promotion.
  • Engage with local networks in Bristol to promote the festival, working with community organizations, student ambassadors, and the Regional Support Group to reach local audiences.
  • Analyse campaign performance using tools like Google Analytics and use data to optimize future marketing efforts.

Experience & Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing and communications, particularly within the film, cultural, or events sector.
  • Proven experience in multi-channel marketing, including social media, email, press releases, and digital campaigns.
  • Demonstrated expertise in event promotion, especially for events with both online and in-person components.
  • Creative flair and entrepreneurial mindset to develop standout marketing campaigns that attract audiences.
  • Strong visual literacy and understanding of branding principles.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing analytics tools, including Google Analytics, to measure campaign performance and inform future strategies.
  • Experience working collaboratively with other organizations, such as sponsors, filmmakers, and promotional partners.
  • Knowledge of local networks and audiences in the Bristol area, with the ability to leverage these connections for festival promotion is a plus.
  • Excellent copywriting skills for creating engaging promotional content across all platforms.
  • Ability to build relationships with external stakeholders, including academic institutions, professional bodies, and the media.

In summary, this role requires a mix of marketing expertise, communication skills, and an ability to engage both local and global audiences for a successful film festival experience.
