Maya is Professor of Social and Medical Anthropology at the University of Sussex. Her research interests include kinship and gender politics in Northern India, childbirth, infertility, maternal health inequalities, sexual reproductive health rights, migration, reproductive technologies, sex selection, surrogacy and global health. At Sussex, she leads the Centre for Cultures of Reproduction, Technologies and Health (CORTH).
