Collections: The Ethnology Department holds all material from the Americas including Pre-Columbian archaeological material, Africa, the Pacific and parts of mainland and island Asia, and parts of Europe. The Antiquities Department holds material from various periods from South-East Asia and archaeological material from Europe and Asia. Other material is held in the Departments of Decorative Arts and Social and Industrial History.

The collection holds a wide range of  objects covering natural science, archaeology, antiquities, social history, ethnology, Numismatic collection (coins, token, medals etc.) The museum collection also includes decorative arts and an extensive local photographic archive. Most of the materials come from China, Japan, Africa and the Americas, as well as some local civilian Roman content.
