Home Forensic Anthropology Course Certification

The Forensic Anthropology Committee of the RAI, in partnership with the British Association for Forensic Anthropology, has established a certified examination process for UK practitioners in forensic anthropology. This was achieved through extensive consultation with a variety of disciplines, associations, professional bodies and practitioners, and with the full support of the Office of the Forensic Science Regulator. The RAI has now opened the certified examination process to international forensic anthropology practitioners outside of the UK. The certification process provides a transparent and robust professional career structure for those who wish to practice the discipline within their relevant criminal justice system.

Included within the process of establishing a certification process for UK practitioners was an agreed curriculum upon which examinations would be based. After representations from a number of Universities to seek mapping of course curricula onto the RAI Forensic Anthropology curriculum, the RAI Council has agreed to offer a capability whereby Universities in and outside of the UK will be permitted to advertise that their course meets selected RAI curriculum content, following the issue of a certificate to that effect.
